나는 사람들이 많이 찾는 관광지가 되어버린 과거 유적지에서 인간의 탐욕과 이데올로기에 의해 희생된 인간의 고통을 바라본다. 나는 그 곳에서 단순히 건축적인 아름다움이나 시각적인 풍경 이면의 부정과 결핍을 감지한다. 모든 장소는 인간처럼 스스로의 결핍을 지니고 있다. 그 장소를 움직여 해체시키고 상반된 풍경을 결합시키며 수습해가는 과정에서 나의 이상화된 꿈을 실현시킨다. 그럼으로써 인류역사의 모든 이분법적 대립과 갈등을 화해시키고 조화를 꿈꾼다.
상반된 장소를 회화적으로 정교하게 결합함으로써 비실재적 풍경을 만들어낸다. 관광지가 되어버린 눈에 익은 특성에 가려져서 아마 얼마간은 존재하는 어떤 곳으로 인식 하게 될 것이다. 나는 새롭게 만들어진 풍경을 통해서 관광지화한 역사를 복원하고, 장소성이 회복되기를 희망한다.
