 윤주동 개인전 < 하나되어 큰 달 > 현대도예가 윤주동 작가는 전통 도자기에서 현대도자기까지 30여년간 작업을 해 온 작가이다. 정식 아카데미 수업이 아닌, 전문 도공밑에서 흙작업부터 가마 굽기까지 옛 도자공이 배운 전통 방식으로 도자기를 입문하였다. 작가는 기존 공예 도자기부터 시작하여 현대미술 감각에 맞는 부조, 입체, 설치 등 다양한 도자기 작업을 해 왔었다. 우리가 잘 아는 달항아리도 현대적인 형태로 재해석
하여 꾸준히 작업을 하였다. 작가의 작품은 국내보다는 해외에서 먼저 인정받아, 베를린, 파리에서 현대도자 전시를 하였으며, 해외 많은 컬렉터들의 관심을 가져왔었다. 이번 갤러리그림손 기획 초대전에 보여줄 작품은 달항아리이다. 달항아리는 한국에서 너무나 익숙한 작품이며, 많은 도자기 작가들이 시도하고 있는 소재이다. 이번 전시에서 선보이는 달항아리는 조선시대 초기, 중기, 후기의 모든 작품스타일을 전시한다. 시대에 따라 달항아리 입구, 배모양, 굽의 형태가 다른다는 것을 보여줌을 통해, 달항아리의 역사와 변천과정, 우리에게 익숙한 형태와 색, 이러한 모든 전개를 이번 전시에 모두 살펴 볼 예정이다. 작가는 조선시대 달항아리 흙의 배합을 연구하여, 가장 근접한 색을 구현하기에 이르렀다. 새롭게 탄생한 달항아리는 기존의 달항아리 작가들과
비교를 하여 작품을 보는 것도 관람의 재미 중 하나일 것이다. 많은 달항아리 작가들이 현대미술에 배출되고 있는 시점에서 윤주동 작가는 정확한
재현을 통해 정확한 안목이 된다는 작가만의 철학을 토대로 달항아리 작업을 하였으며, 300년 역사의 과정에서도 변치 않는 아름다움이 무엇인가를
달항아리를 통해 보여주고자 한다. 이번 전시를 통해 한국 백자의 쓰임과 변천과정, 흙의 배합, 굽기에 따른 변화, 달항아리 명제에 이르기까지 작가에게 듣는 작가와의 대화도 마련되었다. 작가와의 대화에서 조선시대 실재 백자의 일부분(조각들)과 청자 일부분을 함께 보면서 달항아리의 색과 형태의 가치가 어디에 있는지를 함께 알아보는 중요한 시간이 될 것이다. <Ju Dong Yoon : The great moon only as a united one> Ju Dong Yoon is a ceramist making ceramic art from traditional ceramics to contemporary ceramics for almost 30 years. He entered the ceramics learning process of ceramics under professional ceramists rather than following academic courses, from making soil dough to firing, which is a very traditional process in Korean ceramic history. The artist creates various styles of ceramic art from the traditional pottery to contemporary styles, such as relief, 3D, and installations. He also has made Moon jars, which is recently the most popular pottery formation, reinterpreting in his own contemporary visuals. His ceramic is recognized internationally in Berlin and Paris first, exhibiting contemporary ceramics, and it was beloved by international collectors. For this invitational exhibition in Gallery Grimson, the main artwork genre is Moon jar. Moon jar is a very intimate pottery in Korea, and most Korean ceramists are investigating. We are presenting all sections of Joseon Dynasty including early, middle, and late era for this exhibition. Depending on the era, the Moon jar changes its lip, body, and foot. Through this change, the viewers could experience the history of Korean ceramics and the color and form of moon jar, which is intimate to Korean tradition. We aim to show all the history of “Moon Jar” in the Joseon Dynasty in this exhibition. JuDong Yoon invented the ratio of the soil; finally he could create the most similar ratio to genuine Moon jar in the past. This newly created Moon jar has enjoyable points, compared to Moon jar in the past. Today, among many ceramic artists who are making Moon Jar, JuDong Yoon insists that “Precise representation becomes exact insights. "Based on this philosophy, he is presenting what is the beauty everlasting for 300 years in history through his Moon jar. We promoted an artist talk to hear the use of Korean white porcelain, ratio of soil, changes according to firing, and the concept of Moon jar from the artist. The audiences will investigate where the value of color and form of Moon jar come from, observing the genuine fragments of white porcelain and blue porcelain.
